About Easy Voice Recorder

A free tool for sending someone a voice message when you don't share a messaging app.

Why it exists

If you and the person you're messaging both use iMessage, WhatsApp or Messenger, those apps have excellent voice recorders built in and you should use them.

The gap is everyone else. The client you only have an email address for. The relative on Android when you're on an iPhone. The colleague you'd never swap personal numbers with. In those cases the usual options are typing it all out, or recording a file and hoping it survives the trip. This gives you a link instead — it plays in any browser, and neither of you installs anything.

How it works

• You record in your browser. Nothing is uploaded until you choose to.
• You listen back first. If it's not right, re-record — the discarded take never leaves your device.
• Everything is converted to one audio format that plays everywhere, so a recording made on Android works on an iPhone and the other way round.
• You get a short link to share however you like.

The honest limits

• Recordings can be up to 2 minutes.
• Links stop working after 30 days, and the audio is deleted.
• Links are unlisted, not private.Anyone you send one to can listen and pass it on. Don't record anything you'd mind a link-holder hearing.
• It records new audio — it can't host a file you already have.
• There's no account, so recordings are tied to the browser you made them in.

Who made it, and why

I write an email newsletter and a blog, and for a long time I wanted a simple way for the people who read them to send me a voice message back. Not a phone call, not a form with a list of questions — just someone hitting record and telling me what they thought, in their own words.

Every option I found asked too much of the person on the other end. Set up an account. Install an app. Give a phone number. Every extra step loses people, and the whole point was to make it easy for someone to speak up. So I built this instead: open the link, tap record, done.

It stays free because it costs very little to run, and because a tool meant to lower friction shouldn't start by adding some.

Privacy, briefly

No accounts and no names. IP addresses are stored only as a one-way hash, for abuse prevention. Analytics tells us how many people visit and which pages they land on — it isn't used to identify anyone, and it never runs inside players embedded on other people's sites.
