Why a link beats an attachment
Audio files are awkward to send. Email providers cap attachments — Gmail stops at 25 MB — and messaging apps compress or reject them. Even when a file does arrive, the person on the other end may need the right app to open it, and phones and computers disagree about which audio formats they'll play.
A link avoids all of it. The recipient taps it and it plays in whatever browser they already have. Nothing to download, nothing to install, and no format to worry about.
It plays everywhere
Recordings are converted to a single format that every current browser supports. That means you can record on an Android phone and send the link to someone on an iPhone, or record on a Windows laptop and have it play on a Mac. The mismatch that normally breaks audio sharing between Apple and Android devices doesn't apply.
How to do it
- Tap record and allow microphone access.
- Speak, then stop.
- Listen back, and re-record if you want another go.
- Tap Upload & get link, then copy the link.
- Paste it wherever you'd normally send a message.
Pasting the link into most chat apps shows it as a playable card rather than a bare URL, so the person receiving it can see it's a voice message before they tap.
Already have a recording on your phone?
This records new audio — it doesn't accept uploads of files you already have. If you've got an existing voice memo you need to send, upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud and share the link from there. If it's short, re-recording it here is usually quicker than either.

- Leaving a note for someone who isn't free to talk right now
- Giving spoken feedback on someone's work
- Sharing pronunciation, a tune, or anything easier heard than described
Good to know
- Recordings can be up to 2 minutes.
- Links expire automatically after 30 days.
- Links are unlisted, not private — anyone you send it to can listen, and can pass it on.
- You can delete a recording yourself at any time from the player page.
- This records new audio in your browser. It doesn't accept uploads of existing files.
